wpid-blackberry-building-600x450.jpgWhat a turn of events with the BlackBerry stock surging forward in regards to the Pentagon sticking with BlackBerry, however now The Verge is reporting that they received a statement from the Department of Defense in which they claim no new orders have been placed for BlackBerry new devices and that the 80,000 referenced last week are legacy devices.

Fact is without new orders being placed for BlackBerry smartphones, BlackBerrys still rule 98% of devices used by the Pentagon, either way they will be the most used devices as their security is unmatched.

See statement from Department of Defense:

Absolutely no new orders have been placed for new BB devices. The DISA press release put out Jan. 16 never alluded to any devices being purchased. The 80,000 BBs and 1,800 non-BB devices referenced in the release are legacy systems already in DoD inventories.

Looks like these news sites will report anything negative about BlackBerry in a heartbeat however, facts are facts, most devices used is still a win for BlackBerry and once/if they upgrade to BlackBerry 10 as they should for security reasons the backlash regarding this particular turn of events will continue.
