BlackBerry CEO John Chen had a sit down with WSJ in where he discussed various topics including his future plans for the company in which he has answered quite a bit in the past but elaborating a bit more. The BlackBerry Z3 Jakarta priced at $191 is as low as it’ll get price wise as John Chen has no plans to release a sub-$100 phone which makes sense, the Z3 is extremely budget friendly.

John also made a statement that BlackBerry 10 smartphones could run 98% of Android apps, I take it that is a huge number that definitely closes that app gap? Yes, we would love native apps but the latest BlackBerry 10 OS allows us to run Android apps without much or any hiccups.

One of the most important parts of the interview is where John Chen spoke in regards to BlackBerry being more than a niche player, he wants that, handsets are a part of the future with a priority on enterprise but once BlackBerry gets back to a profitability level those plans could expand beyond that.
