You haven’t seen the future, until you’ve seen CORE; a theme for BlackBerry by Elecite. CORE is characterized by a green glass dome wallpaper that is the backdrop for hot spots. CORE groups the default BlackBerry icons into cell groupings. The web icons above are Browser, Messenger, Facebook and Connections. They are logically grouped together and hide under the “fractured glass” tiles that cover them. Clicking on the word Web slides open the glass tiles and reveals the choices below. In this same way, CORE manages to allow access to 25-28 different icons on the home screen. There are 16 fixed text icons and 9-12 user selectable icons. Don’t think because there are cell groupings that you can’t customize. You would be wrong.
The hot spot to click for your personal icons is in the exact center of the screen. The tiles slide open to reveal your own icons. Why hit the menu button ever again? It’s all at your fingertips. The cell groupings are Web, Utilities, Media which includes all your media apps; and Phone. The Phone grouping includes; SMS, Messages, Calendar and Contacts.
The guys at Elecite have created a snappy and fast theme with a very smooth and futuristic looking interface. CORE has black menus with gradient green highlights. I have to admit, after I loaded it on my phone, all I wanted to do was click the cells to see which apps were hiding underneath. It was so cool. Love the way the tiles move smoothly to reveal the icons underneath.
Because of the highly functional home screen, the user is not allowed to change the wallpaper. But if you want to have that Star Trek look on your Berry, you can’t do any better than CORE by Elecite. I guarantee you that you will be mesmerized by clicking on the hot spots; that is, IF you can get your phone away from your friends!
