BlackBerry Service May Be Banned In Turkey

Bad news coming from Turkey as the the Information Technology Institution of Turkey is threatening to ban BlackBerry service in Turkey following a rejection by RIM to release the codes for the secure communications between devices.RIM had previously announced that they would not disclose these codes. The head of the Inf. Tech. Institution, Mr.Acarar, stated that they have asked for the codes from RIM and if they don’t deliver them (and there is no deadline, they want it now) the BlackBerry service will be banned in Turkey.

Over 400.000 (40k)Turks, including CEOs of large companies and foreign ministry officials are using BlackBerry smartphones for their advanced security. If the Institution does go forward with the ban, Turkey will suffer.
