According to reports, RIM has opened up its first Asian Lifestyle Shop in Bangkok. Through a partnership with Jay Mart, the SET-listed mobile phone dealer, the 20-million-baht BlackBerry lifestyle store will feature more than 60 BlackBerry devices including PlayBook tablets and accessories. “Thailand is one of the top two strategic countries alongside Indonesia where we aim to boost market share,” said Rohilesh Singh, senior director for retail strategy of RIM East Asia.
“Bangkok is the best location for a global brand retail shop.”
“This concept store will educate users about our technology,” he said, adding RIM would explore opportunities to expand its retail shops in various models.
“Unlike the past nine months when Nokia dominated in first place, Android-based phones and BlackBerry have moved up fast.”
