BlackBerry is Indonesia’s favourite, BBM trumps other messaging apps

Coming in from the Nielsen On Device Meter (ODM) survey, BlackBerry comes out on top as the most favourable brand, chosen and used. BBM is also used by 79% of Indonesians on the daily, as opposed to WhatsApp and LINE.

48% of users chose BlackBerry as their top brand whilst 34% of those people chose BlackBerry as their favourite. Regardless to Samsung being a favourite across most Asian countries, Indonesia seems to keep it locked to BlackBerry.

The Z3 must be doing a huge service to loyal BlackBerry users, being cost friendly and very enticing for one not to purchase, we can only hope the Z3 has the same effect across the pond and all around the world. Interestingly enough, only 23% of the Indonesian population carry a smartphone, so with just under half of that using a BlackBerry (presumably), is there untapped potential for BlackBerry to further penetrate?
