The innovative app store analytics company,Distimo, have just released their report for the month of July 2010. The new report covers the BlackBerry App World(Worldwide), the Apple App Store for iPad, the Apple App Store for iPhone, Google Android Market, Nokia Ovi Store, Palm App Catalog and Windows Marketplace for Mobile for May 2010 in the United States. Let’s examine the BlackBerry section and see how RIM is doing compared to the other six appstores in the heat of a scheduled device launch coming up.
Findings
The findings for the highest rank PAID app ending in June (Worldwide) are – The number one seller through the month of June is a theme by Mobstar Media ltd. called Animated Lightning Theme priced at $2.99 . The tenth highest paid app was also a theme by Magmic called Tranquil Garden priced at $5.99. Sky 2 LiveScreen fell to number 5 after being first last month. Clearly, Themes took up 70% of the top 10 apps that are the highest paid through the month of June in the BlackBerry App World.
The findings for the highest rank FREE app ending in June (Worldwide) are- The number one downloaded app for BlackBerry in the App world through the month of June is Pandora Radio. This is the second straight month in a row Pandora takes first place on the free app list. BlackBerry Messenger (BBM) came in third, while Poynt takes the silver at second place. Making its way to the tenth spot is a utility app called Quick Pull Free. Only one theme here, compared to the 7 on the previous list.
