Around the world, MasterCard products and services are recognized by our 1 billion cardholders and our 28 million merchants as delivering the highest levels of security, reliability and performance for mission-critical payment services. As MasterCard launches mobile payment services, it is the expectation of our issuers and cardholders that the same level of assurance is carried into this new domain.

In order to ensure that the MasterCard brand promise is realized in the mobile payments domain, MasterCard has developed approvals processes to ensure:

  • Functional reliability
  • Interoperability

This basic principle is applied to all payment solutions that carry the MasterCard brand mark including mobile implementations of PayPass.
