BBM for iOS and Android was (eventually) released in October 2013. BBM for Windows Mobile was announced at MWC in February 2014, 5 months later (including Oct). Now, according to John Chen, CEO of BlackBerry, Windows Mobile users could see BBM for WP being released as early as May.
Following on from Fridays Earnings Report, John Chen went on a media frenzy, giving interviews with the likes of Bloomberg, CNBC and so on. Now, according to TechCrunch, John Chen reiterated BBM for WP’s release for a Fiscal Q2 release timeline, which is as early as May 2014 up until July 2014.
Originally, BBM for WP was slated for a Summer release. So, take it for what it’s worth. I don’t remember John Chen speaking about BBM for WP’s release at the conference call, but if BlackBerry can finish their CORE Program one month in advance, I don’t see why they can’t release BBM for Windows Phone a little ahead of schedule.
