Mexico’s Drug Cartel’s Using BlackBerry Messenger As Preferred Communication

As I was checking out some news on Mexico’s bloody drug war, I stumbled upon this article which states that for quite some time already drug organizations have been on check with their technology. Using RIM’s famous BlackBerry Messenger, leaders from the Beltran Leyva cartel have managed to flourish in their business by staying secretive and preferring to use BBM as their #1 source of communication.

As some of you may know, RIM hands server keys to no one, so BBM is pretty much impossible to crack, making it easier for the organization to get through to their money launderers, local and state officials that offered protection, drug smugglers from different organizations, and collaborators from different levels of the government. This just amazed me, of course the people using BBM had different usernames.

To read full story go to Narcotrafico En Mexico. Its a spanish article but google translate should do the trick, the picture above shows its exact location on the website.
