Do you have a BlackBerry Q5, Q10, Classic, or Passport device? Well if you do then here’s an app that will make things easier for you, Keyboard Shortcuts from Toysoft Development. With this app you now have the ability to extend the native keyboard shortcuts by adding 32 additional ones.

Here’s a quick rundown of some of the additional shortcuts you can set:

  • Turn on the flashlight
  • Turn on WiFi (unfortunately there’s still no API to turn off WiFi)
  • Open message composer
  • Web bookmarks
  • Clipboard
  • View files
  • Map location manager
  • Place a fake call
  • Play a fart and air horn sound
  • Set a shortcut key to speak the current date, time, temperature, the system information, as well as upcoming appointments.
  • Some system settings can also be set to a shortcut. Things like opening the About screen, CPU, Memory, Wifi and many more.

What is a Shortcut?

Shortcuts allow you to assign a different task to each key on the physical keyboard. When you hold the key down while on the HomeScreen that task is executed.

What is Keyboard Shortcuts?

There are only 25 available keys that you can assign shortcuts to. Pretty soon you will run out of keys. This is where Keyboard Shortcuts comes in. Keyboard Shortcuts offers many new shortcuts not possible with the native system shortcuts. Unlike the system shortcuts, Keyboard Shortcuts comes with template managers that let you add unlimited shortcuts.

I have been using this incredible app for a few days now and it’s working great on my BlackBerry Q10. The best part about Keyboard Shortcuts is that if I am in one app and need to change apps fast I no longer have to close out what I’m doing, all I have to do is hit the volume down key to activate the Keyboard Shortcut launcher and pick which app I need.

To check out Keyboard Shortcuts head on over to BlackBerry World now or just tap here, it’s only $2.99 which makes it a great deal. ‎
