PlayBook tops the Charts at Best Buy and Future Shop

Research in Motion announced on Twitter that the BlackBerry PlayBook was the number one seller for the week at Best Buy Canada and Future Shop.

Future Shop was unable to provide any details, but a representative said, “Unfortunately we don’t disclose numbers, but can confirm the information is true.”  Mobile Syrup reported that over 850,000 PlayBooks have sold to date and that figure has probably topped one million.

Likely due to massive price cuts to the PlayBook, it does appear that consumers are interested in the powerful tablet.  With Native Email and Contacts in the 2.0 release, the PlayBook has become more attractive to those that do not have a BlackBerry smartphone.
