Digicel is a Jamaican based mobile phone network provider that covers parts of Oceania, Central America, and the Caribbean regions. They have just officially introduced the Blackberry Torch 9800 smartphone on Friday and have also launched a multi-million-dollar Christmas promotion. The promotion, ‘Digicel’s Christmas Magic Numbers’ offers customers a chance to win millions every week, in addition to free Blackberry Torches.
Digicel’s Head of Marketing Jacqueline James explained that the customers simply have to top up with $500 to be eligible for the weekly draw, which would be televised live on NCN on Sundays at 7:30 pm. The company will issue ‘magic’ numbers via text message with every new top-up then select seven winners weekly.
The first four numbers drawn will win Blackberry Torches while the last three numbers will win $1 million each.
The new promotion got underway yesterday and will last for five weeks. Previous Christmas promotions by the company included giveaways of BMWs.
The company marketed the Blackberry Torch as the first to launch with Blackberry 6, a new operating system for smart phones. The phone features a large touch screen, among other new features, and offers up to 36GB of total storage memory.
