Wikitude Honoured at the BlackBerry Innovation Awards
Wikitude awardedGoing social: Best BBM Connected Application accolade

Wikitude is delighted to have been recognised by Research In Motion in the BlackBerry® EMEA Innovation Awards, winning the Going social: Best BBM Connected Application accolade.

Wikitude won the award with the Wikitude World Browser, which contains hundreds of different examples of how Augmented Reality can enrich location based content experiences including travel sights, mobile coupons, restaurants and more. BBM in Augmented Reality allows you to find your friends and chat with them on the go.
The Going social: Best BBM Connected Application category is designed to reward apps and solutions that have delivered or have the potential to deliver a big impact in the consumer and/or enterprise space, and at the same time demonstrating a perfect fit with RIM’s brand.

“Finding out that we were the winners in such a prestigious group of contenders is simply phenomenal. We are very proud to be the first to have taken instant messaging into Augmented Reality. A huge congratulations goes out to our team in Salzburg for this fantastic achievement”, says Andy Gstoll, Chief Marketing Officer of Wikitude.

“The Going social: Best BBM Connected Application category recognises attributes including the ability to take an app from standalone to contextual and social, enhanced enjoyment for BlackBerry consumers, efficiency for BlackBerry business users, and “wow factor,” said Rory O’Neill, VP EMEA Marketing, RIM. “Wikitude met the criteria in every way with the Wikitude World Browser, and have delivered an app that wowed the judges.”

The BlackBerry EMEA Innovation Awards are designed to celebrate partner achievements in delivering that innovation to end users, and to recognise partners who have highlighted the differentiating qualities of the BlackBerry platform by creating something truly exceptional. The awards recognise a diverse range of innovations for BlackBerry customers, in all areas of their life, whether it is work or personal.

The awards were announced at the BlackBerry Alliance Summit, an annual event that brings together BlackBerry with its Alliance Program partners.
