Tasterous for BlackBerry

Tasterous Profile Page

Just launching, Tasterous for BlackBerry, a food sharing app where you can get awards for checking in and taking pictures of the food your eating. (Presumably when you are out at a restaurant.)

Based out of Indonesia, Tasterous utilizes the Foursquare API’s venue data to manage checkins. After checking in, users upload photos of dishes that are counted as “tastings”. – BlackBerry Cool

Posting tastings give you points as well invites comments from your followers, and much like FourSquare, selects popular dishes nearby.

Trying the program right now, the closest restaurant or good food is anywhere between 312.76 kms – 3951.40 kms. (I’m in Canada).  With more user submitted restaurants I’m sure this number will eventually decline.

Not to many popular dishes near me.

I was trying to figure out the Connect to FaceBook function, did it, then decided I didn’t want the app to connect to my Facebook account, so I went into Facebook and deleted the access.  It still seems to take my information from my Facebook page, and I can’t fix anything online through the Tasterous settings on their website, so security is a bit of a concern to me right now.  Tasterous can also be connected to your Twitter account, and the pictures you take will be uploaded as well.

The website still doesn’t have terms of use or a privacy policy listed yet, and I believe the developers need to have these posted on the site as quickly as possible, as well as a description of the app.  The online user interface is also broken at this time, so I’m unable to really test the controls.

It's all broken, I can't change my profile picture or anything else.

Tasterous is also not available in BlackBerry App World yet, but can be downloaded OTA.  Tasterous does appear to have been developed for the BlackBerry first, which is a bit of a novelty, as the site says that iPhone and Android apps will come later.  Hopefully these bugs will be worked out soon because it seems like it could be a fun program, I am so ready to take a picture of a Big Mac.
