One thing I love about my BlackBerry is BlackBerry Protect. First, download BlackBerry Protect from the App World and then log into the website where you can lock, locate or wipe your smartphone from wherever you are. Along with this is remote wireless backup, allowing you to backup data. Phones can go missing whether they’ve been misplaced or taken so it serves us BlackBerry well to have this awesome native solution. Well if you’re a T-Mobile customer, a new Mobile Security service will be available starting June 15. Check below for another pic of the pamphlet I received in the mail and Mobile Security details
Mobile Security allows you to:
• Sound an ALARM on your lost phone, even if the ringer is off.
• LOCATE a lost phone on a map, getting turn-by turn directions.
• LOCK a lost or misplaced phone to ensure your privacy.
• Remotely WIPE data from a lost or misplaced phone.
Unlike Protect which is free, Mobile Security will be offered as an add on service for a charge of $3.99 per month. Check out the snippet below taken from T-Mobile’s Mobile Security site.
“Premium Handset Protection Customers
Beginning June 15, 2011, Premium Handset Protection Bundle and Insurance customers can visit t-mobile.com/mobilesecurity to download Mobile Security and utilize the ALARM, LOCATE, LOCK, and WIPE feature. Customers will also be able to access the Mobile Security tool directly from their My T-Mobile account.
Other Customers
Beginning June 15, 2011, other T-Mobile customers may purchase Mobile Security for a charge of $3.99 per month. Check back for more information at t-mobile.com/mobilesecurity .
Legal disclaimer:
Mobile Security is not an insurance product. Capable phone required; technical limitations may prevent certain features (e.g. LOCK) from working on certain phones. Phone must be powered on with the SIM card installed, have text messaging capability, and be within the T-Mobile network coverage area for Mobile Security features to function. Enabling the location history features of Mobile Security can cause your phone’s battery life to diminish more quickly. Once phone is WIPED, the data is not retrievable.”
