Sprint’s “Top Ten” Smartphones List

Business Insider has published an article titled “The Top 10 Smartphones For Sprint”. I believe their data is slightly inaccurate and somewhat a slap in the face to RIM and BlackBerry. Let’s take a look. More button for List >>

At #9 sits the BlackBerry Curve with a customer rating of 4.0 out of 5 stars. Right after at #8 is the BlackBerry Bold, which has a customer rating of 4.5 out of 5. As we proceed down the list we stop at the Samsung Intercept at #6. Are you kidding me? Come on…What makes it worse is its customer rating of a mere 2.7 out of 5 stars. With full rebates both devices are $49.99 USD so Business Insider and their sources might want to readjust next time they release a list.

It gets worse. The device that has the #4 spot is the Palm Pre. If you’re unfamiliar with the Palm Pre, it was marketed as a potential iPhone replacement with media and application features a long with a featured slide-out QWERTY keyboard.  The Palm Pre may have made headways via Sprint but when you put the Pre against the iPhone and BlackBerry on other carriers, the Palm Pre is obsolete. I couldn’t locate the Palm Pre in the Sprint system but I spotted the Palm Pixi rated at 3.5 out of 5. I can understand the HTC EVO and HERO taking the the # 1 and #2 spots, as these devices have recently become a fan favorite along with a good customer rating of 4.7 for the EVO and 4.1 for the HERO.

Not only does this list seem odd, one BlackBerry device that has an excellent customer rating isn’t even listed. The BlackBerry Style 9670 that is available for as low as $99.00 USD did not make the list. The Style was released on Halloween so that can be a justifiable excuse as to why it didn’t make the list. Let’s hope thats the reason.

After going through the entire list, how many disagree? I know I do. Sprint and Nextel have been there for businesses since day one. Sprint are no strangers in accommodating both consumers and enterprises. Like it or not, the BlackBerry platform deserves much more credit than given here.
