ScoreMobile’s Success Calls for More Innovation

With ScoreMobile, users are able to personalize favorite teams and have data refreshed intervals, game start times are customized based on the time zone settings on your mobile device, and with the dynamic home screen icon a neat feature where the application will continue to running the background the league, sport, professional, or college game you were last watching.

Score Media Inc. says ScoreMobile has been downloaded 9 million times for various platforms, and that it’s currently the most popular free sports application in the world for the BlackBerry, and consistently among the top five for iPhones. That download figure also includes a soccer-heavy version called ScoreMobile FC, launched last year ahead of soccer’s World Cup. It’s also planning to make a push into web-enabled TV, and is exploring a mobile gambling application.

“Sixty per cent of the growth is coming from outside of Canada,” said Levy at the company’s annual general meeting Thursday. The company also announced fiscal first quarter results. Revenue rose for the quarter ending Nov. 30, from $11.4 million in 2009 to $11.9 million in 2010. Net income, however, dropped from $1.1 million to $839,000. The 2009 results, however, included a one-time $800,000 gain from a CRTC decision on regulatory fees.
