RIM Starts Outsourcing IT Service Desk As Part Of $1 Billion Cost Cutting

Layoffs at RIM continue in efforts to achieve $1-billion savings in operational costs by the end of the financial year, RIM has outsourced its IT Service Desk to NCR.

RIM’s Global Corporate Communications Manager Nick Manning emailed the following to 570 News:

“We understand the difficulties that these changes have on individuals, their families and the community and we are grateful for the continued support and understanding of our community partners. These are difficult but necessary changes that will help put us on the right footing to launch BlackBerry 10 at the end of the month and deliver real value for our stakeholders now and in the future.”
