RIM Included into Wi-Fi Patent Infringement

Wow, this claim has caught many by surprise. MOSAID Technologies Inc. has filed a patent litigation suit against 17 electronics makers accusing the companies of infringing on its Wi-Fi patents. CEO John Lindgren states that all companies using Wi-Fi standard are required to obtain a licence to MOSAID’s patents. On the list, is RIM along with 17 other companies such as Canon, Lexmark , and Dell .

“We believe that all companies offering products that implement the Wi-Fi standard require a licence to our wireless patents,” said MOSAID chief executive John Lindgren in a statement.

The claim was filed Wednesday in U.S. district court for the eastern district of Texas.
