RIM Confirms PlayBook Major Release After DevCon

Jim Balsille RIM CEO has confirmed that a “major feature update”  coming to the BlackBerry PlayBook will be announced at BlackBerry DevCon next month, presumably being the highly anticipated PlayBook 2.0 release.

PlayBook Version 2.0 will be supporting native email, contacts, calendar, and the Android App Player, as well as customized folders and many other features that have been missing since launch.   The PlayBook update will also introduce the PlayBook Video Store,  accessing over 10,000 movies and tv shows, which will fill in the gap of not being able to access NetFlix on the PlayBook.

This has been announced during the Q2 Fiscal 2012 results announcement conference call, and hopefully the update will truly show and  utilize the operating power of the QNX operating system.
