Pentagon Says It Isn’t Abandoning BlackBerry for iOS Devices

If you have been a BlackBerry fan for any amount of time then I’m sure you have heard people claiming companies are dropping BlackBerry for the iPhone or Android devices. Well here’s one of those claims that Electronista said was happening that is not true at all. Today the Pentagon swears it is not replacing BlackBerry’s in favor of iOS devices.

Air Force Lt. Col. Damien Pickart, a spokesman for the Pentagon’s new mobility initiative says “There is no truth to this claim”. Lt. Col Pickart goes on to say “We are not looking to replace those 470,000 BlackBerry’s with the systems they claim we’re looking to order.”

The source of these rumors said the Pentagon was on the verge of phasing out “nearly all” of the hundreds of thousands of BlackBerry’s issued to its employees and replacing them with some 650,000 iOS devices. “Every couple weeks, there’s another report that we’re abandoning BlackBerry’s, and that is just so far from the truth,” Lt. Col. Pickart added.

If you’re like me all these rumors about BlackBerry just get old after awhile but with BlackBerry 10 now here in the U.S. hopefully all these so called sources will go away. Hit up the comments and let us now your thoughts on all these rumors.
