More patent woes arise for RIM as reports surface that the handset corporation will be taken yet again to court. This time, over 6 patents which are allegedly in violation under the Dutch company NXP BV. Continue reading for details.

The report states the suit has been filed in Florida over ‘phone design and transmission of data’, reports The Globe. Want to know the crazy part? NXP BV are requiring compensatory, triple damages and other remedies in return for RIM’s alleged mistake. The claim goes on to state that patent infringement deals with the BlackBerry Torch, Curve and Bold and the PlayBook tablet. I see some sort of merit over the devices as the patents were issued between 1997 and 2008 but thee PlayBook tablet? Cooome on now.  That said, This claim may be bigger than what we think but rest assured,  RIM Legal are on their toes doing the necessary to put an end to this suit.
