Mobile Self-Checkout for BlackBerry Now Available

There has been chatter surrounding the abandonment of the BlackBerry platform from a developers standpoint. Well, AisleBuyer LLC doesn’t buy it because they have taken the time to develop a mobile self-checkout app for BlackBerry called Magicbeans. The app allows users to scan barcodes inside selected retail stores using your phone’s camera to gather product information and customer reviews, receive targeted promotional offers and best of all, check out and pay (No it’s not NFC). I don’t want to butcher this so check below for the official Press Release.

BOSTON, MA–(Marketwire – Jun 29, 2011) – AisleBuyer LLC, the first mobile self-checkout provider, announced today that its mobile self-checkout application for retailers is available for download in the BlackBerry App World. Now, with AisleBuyer’s technology, BlackBerry users are able to purchase items in a store without ever having to wait in line.

The mobile self-checkout application for BlackBerry allows consumers to scan barcodes inside retail stores using the phone’s camera, read product information and customer reviews, receive targeted promotional offers, check out and pay. The application provides retailers with an unparalleled level of insight into shopper behavior through rich analytics and allows them to form a more beneficial relationship with customers by offering an optimized shopping experience.

“By adding BlackBerry to our growing list of supported mobile operating systems including iOS and Android, we now cover a majority of the U.S. smartphone market,” said Andrew Paradise, CEO of AisleBuyer. “The inclusion of BlackBerry customers will help retailers recapture lost transactions caused by cart abandonment due to long checkout lines or lack of detailed product information.”

The application builds customer loyalty by allowing shoppers to complete both in-store and online purchases from a single application in one transaction. This multi-channel checkout functionality provides a more comprehensive and convenient retail experience for shoppers, in addition to capturing transactions that would have been lost due to out-of-stock items. BlackBerry users can also create wish lists containing saved products for future reference or purchase, and can browse and search a retailer’s complete online product catalog.

The AisleBuyer-powered mobile self-checkout application is now available for devices running BlackBerry 5.0 and 6.0 and is currently live at Magic Beans.
