Make the most of your Civic Holiday weekend with Canadian apps from BlackBerry World

Per BlackBerry: At BlackBerry, we’re proud of our history as a Canadian company and global innovator. The Civic holiday this weekend gives Canadians an opportunity to celebrate the history and heritage of their communities and their country.

The holiday also gives many Canadians an extra day off and who doesn’t love long summer weekends? That extra day could mean meeting friends for a coffee, catching a movie with the kids, or hosting a big meal for friends and family – the possibilities are nearly endless. To help make the most of your time off, try a host of our uniquely Canadian applications in the BlackBerry World store:

TimmyMe – If you plan to travel on the long weekend, the TimmyMe app is essential. With one click, you can find the 10 nearest Tim Horton’s locations through your phone’s GPS. The Restaurant Finder lets you see details such as whether a particular location has a drive-thru or in-restaurant seating. Customers can also check the balance on their Tim’s card.

Cineplex – The Cineplex app gives BlackBerry users showtimes for every Cineplex theatre across the country. You can also purchase tickets through the application with no additional service fees and check your SCENE card points balance. You can also access entertainment news and trailers through the app.

Recipe Box for BlackBerry 10 – Whether you’re hosting an informal barbeque for friends, or a big, formal family dinner, Recipe Box has a recipe that will leave your guests marvelling at your culinary skills. You can search more than 1,000 recipes using the app and add your own notes to recipes you enjoy. Each recipe includes vivid photos and is ranked according to main ingredient, skill level and preparation time to ensure you can quickly find a recipe that meets your needs.

Reebee – Whether you’re stocking up on food for the long weekend, looking for bargains on toys for the kids, or searching for a restaurant with a good deal, Reebee can help you out. The Reebee app gives you flyers specifically designed for the area you’re in, so it works even if you’re away at the cottage or camping.

CBC Radio – If you’re travelling and can’t live without your CBC fix, the CBC Radio app gives you on-demand access to live streams and more than 60 of CBC’s most popular programs. You can also access archived episodes and create lists of your favourite programs.

Parks Canada Learn to Camp – If you’ve always wanted to camp, but have been afraid to take the plunge, this app can guide you through planning your trip, setting up your campsite, making a campfire, creating an ideal camping trip for kids and more. The app also includes photos and information on all 42 of Canada’s national parks, including animals you might see, activities at each park and directions. There are also tips from experienced campers and people who work at the various parks.

We hope you have a safe and happy long weekend and that you get a chance to enjoy some of the great applications in the BlackBerry World store.
