The BlackBerry Priv has a nifty feature that lets you search your device using only its keyboard. Today we’re going to teach you how to do this with your BlackBerry Priv Android-powered smartphone.
Step 1: From the home screen of your BlackBerry Priv, hold your finger down on the screen until you see an option for wallpapers, widgets, icon packs and settings. Once it appears, select ‘Settings’. This should open the BlackBerry Launcher settings menu.
Step 2: Choose ‘Typing action’.
Note: If you want to use either Device Search or Google, you’ll have to check the box next to ‘Start a search’.
Once that has been done, go back to your home screen and use the Priv’s physical keyboard to type something you wish to search for. An option to use Device Search or Google as the default action should appear the first time you do this. Since we want to use device search, choose it.
If you chose ‘always’, you’ll be able to use device search whenever you use your BlackBerry Priv’s keyboard after following the instructions above.
