In part to RIM’s flexible development approach going forward with PlayBook OS 2.0 one app storefront has achieved an app milestone. The website Good e-Reader now has over 400 apps available in the Good e-Reader App Store which are all free to download. Because the future platform allows developers to simply port their existing Android applications we’re seeing a surge in not only the number of apps being developed but also a large quantity of those apps being downloaded, a clear indicator that yes RIM’s customers do long for apps and yes people are utilizing their tablets. With the ability to repackage Android apps along with Webworks, Adobe Air, and the latest NDK we’re bound to see RIM competing in not only smaller app stores but the larger ones such as the Apple App store and Google Play Android Market in no time.
Our app store features over 400 Playbook and 350 Android apps available to download. We have our own Client app you can download on either platforms that give you a sense of when new games and apps are released and be notified of updates. Of course, our web based stores is organized fairly well and has many of the most popular apps that are out on either platform.
