It’s Friday night (at least here in California) and if you’re looking for something to do the folks from BerryLeaks have a little surprise for you. As you may know they currently have been testing OS 10.2.0.1581 and unfortunately it has no working radio but instead of just leaving us hanging they did the next best thing, they decided to share some of the files from it. These files will be for the dark theme for the Calendar and Contacts that many folks have been asking about.
Now from what I have heard so far these bar files work perfect on the BlackBerry Q10. On the Z10, the calendar bar works as expected but the contacts bar works for some but not others. So once you load them be sure to let us know what’s working for you.

To install these files on your device you will need to extract all the files from the link provided and then sideload them as you normally would any other bar file.
As usual the BerryLeaks team tries to make thing as easy as possible for us so they have tested this on OS’s 10.2.0.1427, 10.2.0.1443, and OS 10.2.0.1521 and they work fine on those (so I would only load these files on one of those OS’s). Here is a list of some of the known issues they came across.
- Known Issues: We don’t know results for lower than the above specified OS’s.
- Known Issues: Some team members have had issues getting contacts theme to take. (Specifically OS1521, yet others had it work fine).
Once you have the files installed, go into the app (either contacts or calendar), go to Settings, and change the visual style to your choosing. NOW YOU MUST CLOSE AND RELAUNCH THE APP FOR THE CHANGE TO HAPPEN. Also remember BlackBerry Empire is not responsible for anything that may go wrong during the update process.
