Here’s a very nice app for all of you that have a lot of important dates but can’t always keep track of them, Target Dates from Toysoft Development. Basically Target Dates is an app that allows you to setup any important date in advance and then it will start counting down to that day for you. Once the countdown hits zero you can have Target Dates send an e-mail or/and SMS, and play a ringtone letting you know the big day has arrived.
Check out these great features of Target Dates:
- Set up Hub message and ringtone notification when the target date is at zero.
- Adding a target date is simple as selecting the date you want to track, select the icon for the date, optionally select a ringtone, send an e-mail or sms, notify you in the Hub and repeat the target date when the countdown hits zero.
- You must create your e-mail and text messages before they can be sent. To do this select the “more” button on the toolbar and then select e-mail templates or text templates. In the screen select the new button to add a new message. To edit or delete the message just select the message on the main screen.
- In the user interface application you will see all your target dates on the screen. You can change the size of the icon by selecting the grid icon on the toolbar.
- The countdown is shown on the Target Date icon along with the name of the target. You can turn off displaying the target name in the application settings screen. To access the application settings swipe down from the top of the screen.
- When the target date is at zero the app will notify you with a message in the Hub, play the ringtone, send an e-mail or text message, and then repeat the target date. All these options are set when you created the target date.
- The headless feature monitors the countdown quietly in the background so you don’t need Target Dates running in an active fame. When you are done adding your target dates just close the application.
- If you want to get a quick view of all your target dates then just open the application.
- When you put Target Dates in an active frame it will display each target. If you like the active frame display then you can leave the application running.
- If you had denied application permissions for Target Dates it will not work properly. If you do not plan on sending an e-mail or text message then you can deny those permissions. Shared files permission is required though.
- To set the permissions run the Settings application, select Security and Privacy, select Application Permissions, then select Target Dates.
Target Dates includes over 160 different icons. You can also leave the target date running pass the original date. This will give you a negative count down date which is good reminder for projects that are over due.
This is a very useful app if you have a lot of important dates to remember and your memory isn’t what it use to be. It runs perfectly on all three of my BlackBerry 10 devices (Z10, Q10, and Z30). In fact, the Q10 is running the latest leaked 10.3 OS and no issues from the app. So if you are ready to check out Target Dates just head on over to BlackBerry World now, it’s only $0.99.
