Can New Android Tablet Help Out the PlayBook?

The guys over at Gizmocrunch have wrote on the NEXT 10.1-inch Android 2.1 tablet that is available for purchase from Next’s online store (next.co.uk). It is slightly larger than the iPad, heavier, and the battery life isn’t as good. Below are a few specs

  • 10-inch LED touchscreen display at 1024x 600 resolution
  • 1.0GHz processor
  • 256MB RAM
  • 8GB internal memory
  • Wi-Fi connectivity
  • Android 2.1 operating system
  • USB 2.0 connectivity
  • 3.5mm headphone port
  • microSD memory card slot

In comparison to the PlayBook, we see 1 GB RAM which certainly is an upperhand for RIM, but lets examine something real quick.
Can the new Android tablet help out the PlayBook? When we look at the full specs to the NEXT tablet, we can see the low pricing of £180 (USD250). Certainly, the PlayBook is going to face competition against multiple tablets that are set to drop soon. We know the iPads set price, and now with this one priced so low, I wonder where RIM prices the PlayBook. I’m looking at this as a positive step towards the PlayBoook, what do you think?
