For a moment many were thinking the Z10, Q10, Q5 and Z30 would be the last smartphone from BlackBerry after it executed its bid to go private reaching the due diligence deadline today. The fairfax deal didn’t go through as scheduled but it’s still going to fund a handsome amount for a hopeful return. With that, BlackBerry let go of Thorsten Heins and appointed Mr. John Chen as interim CEO of the company.

Mr. Chen has wasted no time in sharing his plan for BlackBerry going forward which includes the continuation of manufacturing BlackBerry handsets.

“I know we have enough ingredients to build a long-term sustainable business,” Chen said in a telephone interview with Reuters. “I have done this before and seen the same movie before.

So for those thinking BlackBerry was going to step away from the hardware game, guess again because Mr. Chen is committed to turn the company around for the long haul.

Now that the foundation has been laid with BB10 it can now look into some partnerships and bring to the table that game changing SuperPhone we have been expecting.
