Z3 Back

Specs of the BlackBerry Z20 have emerged. Otherwise known as the BlackBerry ‘Rio’, the BlackBerry Z3 successor is due for a February 2015 unveiling.

According to the good folks over at N4BB, the BlackBerry Z20 is an evolution of the Z3 LTE (codename ‘Manitoba’) with the body of the Z3 and the specs of the Z30 and the BlackBerry Classic (CPU) combined.

  • 9.5 mm profile
  • 5” 1280 x 720 display
  • 2MP front facing, 8MP rear facing cameras
  • 2800 mAh non-removable battery
  • MSM 8960 Dual Core 1.5 GHz processor
  • 2 GB RAM, 16GB Flash + Micro SD
  • Penta Band LTE + 4G Hotspot
  • Wi-Fi 2.4GHz 802.11 b/g/n
  • BT 4.0 / DLNA / Miracast
  • Dual Microphone
  • Speaker phone

The price point will be around $300, making this another mid-range device. Whilst these specs are not confirmed, this wouldn’t be a bad move considering the price point. The Z3 body is lovely, combine some decent specs and the body and you have yourself a good device on the cheap. I’m personally looking for the next all touch high-end BlackBerry 10 flagship, but this has me intrigued.

If these specs are true, it kind of makes me wonder whether BlackBerry is planning on continuing OS support and updates for in-house first generation BB10 devices (Z10, Q10, Z30 etc) considering these specs are identical to the Z30 (which released in 2013)

What do you guys make of this? Would you be inclined in purchasing this device? Let us know in the comments below!
