BlackBerry Tablet well In Development

RIM’s tablet is already in well in development but we haven’t really heard anything official as to a release date. Hopefully at DEVCON in San Fransisco, they will unveil more info on this Tablet. Some say it will be called the BlackPad, others have discovered the name “Surf’ rolling around as well. At least from what I’ve been seeing throughout the years with RIM, I highly doubt the name will just be “BlackPad”. RIM is not going to cut their distinguished marketing name in half. I just don’t see RIM doing that. Doesn’t mean they won’t go with “BlackBerry BlackPad”, but cutting their name in half just doesn’t make sense business-wise. So we might see the revamped BlackBerry 6 operating system, side by side with a separate platform run by QNX Software Systems.

The WSJ reported The RIM tablet is being manufactured by Quanta Computer Inc. of Taiwan, and will run on chips from Santa Clara, Calif.-based Marvell Technology Group Inc., according to people familiar with the tablet’s manufacturing.

If RIM does make the transition to putting QNX operating systems on BlackBerry smartphones, be prepared for a tough battle with competitors because QNX is that good. Who knows, maybe The Storm picture that was sent to BR might even have QNX planted on it in the future. One thing certain, RIM is not stopping.
