According to reports by trusty sources, RIM is planning to launch their next generation superphone which will run on the QNX OS with two new features that have yet to be seen on any BlackBerry device to date. First, we should see a front facing camera – something that many would have prefered on the new BB7 generation devices . 2nd, RIM is taking their video chat to the next level by integrating video chat right into BBM, most likely taking advantage of this BBM api’s that RIM has released. We’re told we should see all of these great features in early 2012 on the first QNX BlackBerry Mobile handset so if you plan on skipping out on BB7, the wait will be well worth it.
What do you’all think about this? Is RIM playing catch up here? (iPhone facetime) or is this a step into the future?
Thanks to the BBE street team for sending this in!
***Update***
Well it seems like our street team is on the right path because a similar report has surfaced over at the tech blog Gizmofusion, stating that the future of BlackBerry QNX handhelds will be equipped with a front facing camera along with BBM video chat integration. Gizmo and their sources stated that they are unclear if the first batch of QNX mobiles will be equipped with a front facing camera with bbm video chat integration whereas our trusty sources have confirmed that yes, the first QNX BlackBerry mobile will have both a front facing camera and bbm video integration. We’ll have to wait and see what happens.
