BlackBerry PlayBook Video Chat Behind the Firewall

BlackBerry’s new PlayBook was released with its own native Video Chat app which allows users to enjoy video conferencing with other PlayBook users. According to Rims recent posted article, there must be a few required ports allowed in your Network in order for Video Chat to function properly.

PlayBook Video Chat needs the following ports enabled in order for it to work on a traffic restricted netork.

  • 443 (TCP)
  • 3478 (TCP)
  • 3478 (UDP)
  • 45535 to 65535 (UDP)

The network administrator can refer to the router, firewall, or security software documentation for guidance on how to setup port exceptions for smooth video conferencing.
