There was a time, recently, when people thought the BlackBerry would die off because of how ‘archaic’ the operating system versions 4.5-5.0 were and are still today. What people have failed to realize, is that Research In Motion would not go quietly into the night. They sold millions of devices and the average person who wants a smart-BlackBerry 6 phone doesn’t want to pay too much for it. It has to work well and be good to the pockets. This defines what a Blackberry is and has been for a long time. An easy to operate device with a good price goes a long way.
Today, we know the BlackBerry won’t just fall off the face of the earth. Reason being, RIM sells many devices and the BlackBerry 6 operating system is what we all want it to be. It was a huge leap from the OS 5.0 and continues to grow as more carriers release official versions. I wont throw the QNX Software in the post because we don’t know when it will hit devices. Now, why is BlackBerry 6 doing so well?

Let’s answer this question from the tip of the iceberg before we go deeper.
First off, it’s fast, it looks clean, it’s functionality is much more efficient than OS 5.0 & below and it’s available on the best Berrys around. The BlackBerry Torch 9800 is the capacitive touch screen BlackBerry that everyone wanted and it comes in 3 colors. It runs BB6 stock with a full QWERTY keyboard, acceleromoeter, and a 5 mega pixel camera.
The Bold 9780 runs BB 6 stock also, has full qwerty keyboard, a 5 mp camera and has that 512MB boost of RAM that we all longed for. The Bold 9700/9650 runs the BB6 OS and can keep up with the competition for those of us who prefer not to get a new device but want to wait for a QNX BlackBerry to be announced & released. We still have the Style, Curve 3G and Pearl 3G all running BB6 with respective specs. These devices are popular among users and they all run the newest OS.
They’re all fast, nice looking devices that are available in an array of colors to allow personal customization. Like I said, RIM nor the BlackBerry is going anywhere and yes, that was just the tip of the iceberg. Naming the devices was a good introduction into defining BlackBerry 6 because hardware is very important. Just think for one moment, would BlackBerry Six even feel good on a Curve with a trackball, whether it’s the 8900 or the 83xx series? This OS feels great with a touch screen or a track pad and would not run well with either of the two.
Stay tuned for the next part of BlackBerry 6 Defined.
