image

For those of you that like to test apps from time to time we may have some good news, there is a beta update for BBM starting to show in the BlackBerry Beta Zone. We aren’t sure yet if this version is going to be a limited invite like it has been in the past so if you see it be sure to let us know. We have listed the changes and known issues below for all of you to check out.

This is what we know has changed:

  • There’s a new “Add Contact” screen that allows you to add new contacts from a suggested list or by sending an email to them.
  • The scan barcode screen is different as well.

Here are some of the known issues:

  • Glympse sent during out of coverage is received as expired after user turns on Wifi.
  • Classic – After selecting a tab, User can’t precisely and easily move up and down to highlight items using trackpad.
  • Classic – User is unable to scroll through the Voice chat toolbar in the Voice chat UI using the trackpad.
  • Classic – User can’t easily scroll using trackpad in the chat history area containing a long message history, sometimes automatic scrolling happens even without the use of trackpad.

To check if this beta update is available for you just open the BlackBerry Beta Zone app and it should be there for you if it is. I know for me it’s not showing yet so be sure to hang tight as it makes it’s way through the system. If you are not a member of the BlackBerry Beta Zone you can join here, and then once you sign up just download the app through here.
