BBM Channels is ‘soon’ to be coming out of beta, has been in beta for a couple of months, very great strategy for businesses, users and just a complete solid social experience. Other great piece of info, BlackBerry is currently working on BBM voice and BBM video for Android and iOS devices, the timetable for that? “Within months”.
BBM has been pretty much an instant hit with over 10 million downloads on Android and iOS devices within the first 24 hours of launch, that says a lot about how powerful, popular and secure BBM really is, a lot of people want it, there are still many people waiting in line to get this messaging app, the line is however moving fast according to BlackBerry.
The cross-platform app is said to continue to be a free service, BlackBerry will however monetize the app through BBM Channels says Andrew Bocking, head of BBM:
“We have other ideas on how to monetize that service. We continue to plan to evolve the service and keep making it more engaging and have more reasons why people will come back to use the service. This is one we’re definitely investing in, this is definitely one of our key strategies, but it’s one of many.”
For those of you on a BlackBerry device who do have BBM Channels beta installed don’t forget to add our BBM Channel which is updated very often, PIN C00071CA4.
