The Nerdberry boys have come across a very special .BAR file which consists of Angry Birds for the BlackBerry PlayBook tablet. This leak is nowhere near the finalized version, as we know an official release is set to launch following the announcement made at BlackBerry World 2011. To get Angry Birds on your PlayBook you will have to sideload it as is does not appear in the App World and there is really no way to install PlayBook apps OTA. The Nerdberry boys have compiled a list of instructions along with a short video of Angry Birds running on a PlayBook. Check below for instructions.

Side Load Instructions

Setup PlayBook

On your playbook you need to open the settings tab by swiping down from the top of your home screen or clicking on the settings icon in the top right.

Select the Security option in the left bar.

Select the Developer Mode which should display the following screen. (Putting in developer mode is simply to allow applications to be installed on the device. You can turn this off after Angry Birds has been installed)

You now need to activate developer mode by changing the OFF to ON. This will prompt for a password and retyped password as shown below. REMEMBER this password as you will need to use it to install Angry Birds and to get access to your playbook whilst in developer mode. You can turn off developer mode after installation of Angry Birds.

Once you have set a password a new icon should appear in the top tray as show below. Tap on it once to reveal the IP address of your device.

Installing aMail using your Windows Computer

Now move to your Windows computer. Download and install Playbook Bar Installer.msi Launch this file to install the desktop installer application that will push Angry Birds to your Playbook.

Follow the installation process this may take a few moments. This will create an application called DDPB Installer on your computer.
Launch DDPB Installer. You should see the following screen but with nothing in the right panel.

Enter in your Playbook password and IP address in the boxes to the right.

Now click Add and browse to the Angry Birds.bar file (X denotes version) that was also in the distributed zip.

Once you have found and selected the Angry Birds.bar file click Open. Angry Birds.bar should appear on the right hand list.

Check the box next to the Angry Birds file and check the box marked run after finish.

Finally click Install (this may take a moment or two)
