Android Working on it’s own “BBM” Style Messaging system

According to the WSJ, Google is the process of designing its own internal instant messaging system, similar to RIM’s BBM. Earlier this week Apple unveiled iMessage- it’s version of BBM. As of now Google has Google Talk based off Jabber IM protocol which doesn’t provide a delivery or read confirmation, and requires a steady data connection to remain logged in. Will RIM put up a legal fight the way it did with Kik? Or will RIM answer back by further innovating BBM?
