Hello again theme mavens! When ‘ole JayDee first started here at BBE she wanted to write about things with which she was comfortable. And naturally, that lead to a theme by Al3azim because JayDee is well acquainted with all of Al3azim’s dozen or so themes. Well, hold on to your hats! Here comes another FREE theme for your BlackBerry phone by Al3azim that is probably his best to date: Bridged.

Click here for more of the story!
Bridged is a theme that has many shortcuts and hotspots on the home screen and two hidden icon docks. Let’s start at the top. The date is a shortcut to the calendar. The clock a shortcut to the clock options. There are your Sound profiles represented by the profile icon. The battery is a hotspot for Options and the signal meter leads to Manage Connections. Anything else you want the theme to do for you from the home screen? Make you tea and toast maybe? Ha, the only thing it CAN’T do!

At the bottom we have the notification bar. JayDee has a custom that is a shortcut to Messages. On the default theme, notifications leads to Today items. On either side of the notification bar, we have our Bridge…to two separate hidden icon docks. Click the empty space next to the notification bar on either side and up pops a 7 icon dock; for a total of 14 icons! Dismiss with ESC. Oh snap! I forgot the OCD or weather slot in the upper left-hand corner. That is hide-able as well. Use Alt ( and Alt ) to hide. You can’t be possibly needing anything more!

OK, I don’t know about you, but personally, I think RIM should take a lesson from Al and create a default theme for BlackBerries that is as functional and stylish as this theme. Oh and did I mention that all of Al’s theme are FREE? He creates them functional for practical use, mostly for himself. It is only through urging of his friends that he has offered these themes to the masses. And believe me, people have responded.

Here’s the other great thing about Al’s themes. You may use your own system fonts. Got Font App Collection? Set what you’d like. Set the size you’d like. Highlights are the default color so they are easy to discern. Calling screens have not been changed. Familiar, functional, easy to use. The app screen is a plain black background which causes the icons to pop. OS7 icons are used throughout.
I own over 200 themes for my Bold 9650 running OS6. Many are premiums; in fact I bet over 75% of them are premiums. And some of them are not as nice as Al3azim’s work. Jus saying. You really must download this theme and see for yourself if you don’t absolutely love it! And if you do, why not make a small donation to the developer, just to keep him working on more winning themes like this one?
