Certification Issues Slowing Down Next Gen BlackBerry Device Launch

One issue that keeps coming up when asked about the release of the new next generation devices is that certification is being done between 23 carriers. Once the carriers finish with cert testing and feel good about the OS, then carriers can pick up and acquire a contract with RIM. Mike stated that this is the first time they submit everything at once so they’re dealing with the unexpected issues surrounding that. The good thing is that since they’re going through this issue with the OS7 lineup, experience should speed up the QNX device launch when it happens in 2012.
