BlackBerry “Vienna” will reportedly be the company’s second Android device

BlackBerry Vienna

BlackBerry is reportedly planning a second Android phone, codenamed the BlackBerry “Vienna,” just five days after the launch of the Android-powered Priv.

According to renders obtained by CrackBerry, the Vienna ditches the Priv’s slider format for a form factor more familiar to BlackBerry – an always-available keyboard right below the screen. It looks like it’s going to be quite a tall phone, in order to accommodate a large screen with the 16:9 aspect ratio found on most modern smartphones. However, Android Central reports that a “more squarish” screen is under consideration.

The renders show a keyboard that appears quite similar in size to the Priv’s. The device also appears to have physical buttons for Back, Home, and Multitask below the screen, which seem like an odd choice for a modern Android device. The top-front of the device takes some inspiration from the Passport Silver Edition as well, released earlier this year.

Nothing is known about the Vienna’s internal specs, and it’s possible that the design has evolved since the renders were first created. But knowing what we know so far, do you like what you see? Let us know in the comments below!
