The PlayBook will come pre-installed with 7Digital’s software, allowing owners of the PlayBook to download music from the database of over 13million available tracks.
RIM’s new PlayBook will come pre-installed with 7digital, from the company of that name based in east London’s “Silicon Roundabout” cluster. It will provide 13m tracks for owners of the tablet to purchase.
7digital is already the largest music store on the BlackBerry platform and existing customers of the service on any platform, such as PC, will be able to synchronise their music to the PlayBook.
The deal marks the latest big-name partnership for 7digital, which is pre-loaded on Samsung’s Galaxy Tab and powers MP3 downloads for smartphones and Spotify. Some record labels use 7digital’s technology to run their online download stores.
