The BlackBerry smartphones are being issued to aid the police force to help improve police visibility.  How, you may ask, will BlackBerry smartphones enable them to achieve this?

The answer is quite simple:  Enable Police Officers “to carry out paperwork and update logs, jobs previously carried out from the office” but while on the beat.

According Gloucestershire Police spokeswoman, Katy Roberts:

“The devices will give officers access to the majority of the systems used in their work, allowing them more time on patrol and less time travelling to or working within police stations.

“This is part of our drive to increase the number of officers working in high- visibility roles.

“It will also reduce bureaucracy and improve efficiency, thereby cutting overall policing costs.”

There’s no mention, though, about the specific units that will be given, and the cost of the technology investment.

Seems like BlackBerry phones remain to be the device of choice of organizations and individuals who value Security, Reliability, and Productivity.
