WhatsApp Rolls Out Voice Messaging, Targets BBM

WhatsApp VoiceMessageWhatsApp has rolled out voice messaging which targets both BBM and Facebook Messenger, as BBM is soon to go cross-platform WhatsApp has taken a giant leap forward.

WhatsApp is currently available for all if not most smartphone devices including all BlackBerry devices, legacy and BlackBerry 10. The real question now is who does it better? BBM has had the voicenote feature for a long period of time. WhatsApp has a push-to-talk approach with no limit for a length of a voice clip.

As far as functionality goes WhatsApp has yet to provide video chatting such as BBM Video which is a widely used feature on BlackBerry 10 devices, I would have to say BlackBerry Messenger is still ahead in terms of functionality, competition is always good though.

If you haven’t already download WhatsApp Messenger for your BlackBerry device, head on over to BlackBerry World and check it out, the voice messaging feature was done on the server side as no update of the app was needed, I thought that was pretty neat.
