The Social gaming giant Zynga Inc., creators of Farmville, are on its way to Canada as it has just announced an acquisition with Toronto-based mobile developer Five Mobile Inc.
“Zynga is crossing the border!” the company wrote in a blog post on Friday. Today we are excited to announce a new addition to the Zynga family, the Toronto-based Five Mobile team. In addition to the team, Zynga is also acquiring certain assets and Intellectual Property developed by Five Mobile. Five Mobile, now Zynga Toronto, creates compelling, robust and scalable mobile applications. The team has worked closely with some of the largest media and technology companies in North America across a multitude of platforms and handsets.”
If you’re unfamiliar with Five Mobile, they are one of the most respected mobile application development entities in Toronto. Five Mobile is responsible for the production of the top rated BlackBerry app Score-Mobile for Score Media Inc. What does this mean for BlackBerry? Well, if you recall back on the 31st of March DevDay was held in Toronto. Guess who took the stage as a guest speaker? – The CEO for Five Mobile. It’s no secret that Five Mobile has a strong working relationship with RIM and with the expansion of the BBM social platform along with the PlayBook’s gaming handling ability, some really intriguing games and applications might be in RIM’s near future.
