With BBM not going cross platform and iMessage being only for iOS, one device maker has decided to take matters into their own hands. Samsung Electronics has announced ChatON, its mobile instant messaging service. According to reports, we should begin to see ChatON in October and should come preinstalled in Samsung’s feature phones as well as smartphones running on the Google Andriod OS.

Only ChatON will work across all major smartphone platforms including iPhone and BlackBerry. Smartphone users will be able to send text, images, hand-written notes, as well as chat in groups and share video clips.
