Press Release:

Update enhances functionality for iOS devices and BlackBerry PlayBook

Research In Motion (RIM) (NASDAQ: RIMM; TSX: RIM) today released a free update of BlackBerry® Mobile Fusion, the company’s mobile device management (MDM) solution. With the release of Service Pack 1, RIM is also expanding availability of BlackBerry Mobile Fusion to an additional 37 countries for a total of 81 countries.

BlackBerry Mobile Fusion Service Pack 1 will provide additional features for both iOS based devices and BlackBerry® PlayBook™ tablets. Organizations managing iOS devices will see enhancements in the configuration of Wi-Fi®, VPN and ActiveSync service across devices, and the ability to manage the distribution of apps. Organizations managing BlackBerry PlayBook tablets will be able to benefit from features including Over The Air enrollment and configuration of devices, full device encryption and certificate-based authentication with Microsoft® Exchange. The new features in BlackBerry Mobile Fusion for the BlackBerry PlayBook will be accessible with a pending update of the PlayBook OS.

Jeff Holleran, Senior Director, Enterprise Product Management at RIM said, “Organizations are increasingly looking for a trusted partner to help them manage the proliferation of both corporate provided and employee provided or BYOD mobile devices. While BlackBerry Mobile Fusion will allow customers to manage BlackBerry PlayBook tablets as well as iOS and Android devices today, it will also prepare customers for a simple and straightforward upgrade to BlackBerry Enterprise Service 10, when it launches together with the first of our new BlackBerry 10smartphones.

“BlackBerry Mobile Fusion offers a complete end-to-end mobile device management solution, which further extends our leadership in delivering unrivalled enterprise-grade mobility solutions. We have listened to feedback from our customers about how we could help them be even more effective and have prioritized the development of the new features and functionally with this update.”
