Instagram is arguably among the most-demanded apps for BlackBerry 10. Unfortunately, for a while now we’ve settled on the thought that an official version will not be coming. But a newly-leaked photo, shown above, suggests that a native version of the app may be on its way to the platform.
The person who posted this photo claims his team has been working on a BlackBerry 10 version of Instagram for “some time”, with an announcement coming in the first or second week of September. The app will proceed to launch late September or early October, coinciding with the launch of OS 10.2. It will include working video capture, unlike the sideloaded Android version where video capture is still non-functional. As the screenshot shows, it will also be integrated into the Hub, and offer support for the Q10 (as well as the Q5, presumably).
The source also claims there are other apps in the works that “aren’t available natively yet on BB10”, which he will provide more screenshots of in the coming days. Should all of this be taken with a grain of salt? Probably. Is it a glimmer of hope for the app situation on BlackBerry 10? Absolutely.
